2017 Ukraine has reduced the consumption of imported coal twice. On Friday, October 19, during the Committee hearings concerning the public sector coal industry Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik, RBC-Ukraine online reports.

“For two years, for the 2017-2018 years, we have managed to reduce the consumption of imported coal is almost twice”, – he said.

Nasalik said that volumes of imported coal for two years has decreased from 10.5 million tons to 5 million tons. The Minister added that Ukraine has the potential to replace imported components.

“Generation Centrenergo practically will not require imported coal. The imported component we can close,” – said the head of Ministry.

As reported, in January-September 2018 Ukraine increased import of coal and anthracite by 20% (2,605 million tonnes) compared to the same period of 2017 – up to 15,640 million tons.

According to the energy Ministry, as of November 1 at TPPs and cogeneration plants in Ukraine should be accumulated 2.6 million tons of coal, 1 million tons of which is anthracite coal, and 1.6 tons of gas.
