Ukraine gave Austria a suspect in child abuse

Austrian Olympic judo champion is suspected of sexually abusing three underage girls.

Ukraine extradited to Austria the double Olympic champion on judo Peter Zayzenbakher, who is suspected of child abuse. AFP reported on Sunday, September 15.

Zayzenbakher detained Ukrainian border guards on September 9, when he tried to illegally cross the border from Ukraine to Poland. On 12 September he was taken to Vienna.

Peter Zayzenbakher – 59-year-old Austrian judoka and two-time Olympic champion. It is suspected that it is during 1997-2004, during operation, the judo coach committed sex acts against three underage girls. Under Austrian law, he faces a penalty of imprisonment from one to ten years.

Zayzenbakher was in the international wanted list since December of 2016 after appear at the hearing in court. In 2017 he was first detained in Kiev. After the 40-day period of temporary arrest Zayzenbakher fired. Then Ukraine refused Austria to extradite.

Previously deported from Ukraine who was convicted for corruption of a minor citizen of Jordan.
