Council intends to regulate the legal status of the adjacent zone
Sea area, which is currently unable to patrol guards naval forces will be doubled.
The Verkhovna Rada endorsed the first reading of the draft law on increase of the control zone in the Black and Azov seas. The decision at a meeting on Thursday, November 8, was supported by 238 deputies.
The bill defines the legal status of the adjacent zone beyond the territorial sea of Ukraine.
The document proposes to set the adjacent zone of Ukraine, to determine its legal status and the regime, to grant Ukraine the opportunity to exercise customs, fiscal, immigration and sanitary control in the area, and have the rights and fulfil the responsibilities of sunken in the surrounding area archaeological and historical objects.
The adoption of a project necessary for preventing the Commission of smuggling operations and illegal calls at the closed ports in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
So, the adjacent area of Ukraine is a Maritime area adjacent to the territorial sea of Ukraine and the external boundary which is at a distance of 24 nautical miles, counted from the baselines, and territorial sea of Ukraine.
In the case of the adoption of the draft law, sea area, which is currently unable to patrol the border guards, the naval forces will be doubled.
Plan to allow the harassment, detention and arrest of vessels-violators in addition to warships and other government ships used for non-commercial purposes.
In response to the use of force adequate measures are taken to stop the offence.
Recall, September 6, the Council approved measures to protect national interests in the waters of the Azov and Black seas. We are talking about strengthening the naval presence and the creation of a ship-the property of grouping Military-naval forces of Armed forces of Ukraine in the Azov sea, the development of appropriate infrastructure and maintenance of subdivisions of the newest coastal defense missiles.
According to the NSDC, the government should take the Maritime doctrine of Ukraine and to improve the regulatory framework for the protection of national interests in the Azov and Black seas.
