Ukraine will not agree to any changes in the Association Agreement, – Gerashchenko in the European Parliament

During the session of the European Parliament Committee on Association Ukraine-EU co-chair of the Committee and Deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko said that Kyiv will not agree to any changes in the Association Agreement EU-Ukraine, despite the results of the referendum in the Netherlands. The correspondent reports about it “112 Ukraine”.

Also at the Committee meeting was attended by the representative of the Netherlands, who must make a comment about the impact of the consequences of the referendum that took place in the Netherlands on April 6 the Association Agreement.

In addition Gerashchenko urged MPs to support the sanctions list “Savchenko”, which supported last week’s PACE.

Present at the meeting, the Chairman of the Interparliamentary group for cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada and the European Parliament Andrei Plenkovich noted that Ukraine can continue to count on the support of the EP, in particular in the introduction of a visa-free regime.

“He assured that on its part, at least, the foreign Affairs Committee of the EP will do everything possible in order to summer vacations, this question was considered and adopted by here”, – the correspondent reports.

Also the meeting was attended by the representative of the Supreme Commissioner of the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, who read out a statement addressed to the participants of this meeting from Mogherini. The statement said that “the EU monitors the situation in Eastern Ukraine, and at the meeting of the EU, which will take place in June, at least now there is a solution, there is a consent of all parties to extend sanctions against Russia because of the situation in the Donbass and Crimea”.

They also raised the issue of implementation of the Minsk agreements and Ukrainian citizens who are held in the occupied territories of Donbass and Russia. In his opening speech Irina Gerashchenko, in particular, noted that the situation in the East remains tense, and the Minsk agreements are not respected.

We will remind, the Dutch Parliament rejected the proposal to abolish the ratification of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine.

April 12 election Commission of the Netherlands has announced the official results of the referendum, in which 61% of participants opposed the EU Association with Ukraine. The turnout was 32.2% (with a required 30%).

The Association agreement between Ukraine and the EU consists of seven parts. It spelled out the issues of the reciprocal integration of Kiev in the space of the Union, in particular in the political, economic and other spheres. Political block of agreement was signed in March 2014 (from Kiev the document was signed by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk), and economic — in June of the same year. This part of the agreement was signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

To date, the document was approved by the European Parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, as well as all member countries of the EU (including the Netherlands). However, the final document will come into force after ratification by the Council of the European Union, which brings together the 28 Ministers of member countries of the EU.
