Украина догонит Польшу через 50 лет – Маркарова

The Finance Ministry said the growth of the Ukrainian economy

The Finance Minister said that if Ukraine’s economy will grow at current rates, it will overtake Poland in 50 years.

Ukraine’s economy after the fall 2014 stabilized and returned to a regime of constant growth. When this country will need 50 years to reach the current economic level of Poland, said the Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova, reports Radio Liberty.

The Finance Minister noted that in 2014 Ukraine’s economy was “sick,” then subjected to “pressure the Russian aggression”, therefore, the main task of the government was to stabilize her.

“It was done. It is now 12 quarters in a row, Ukraine’s economy is growing. If you look at the results that we have achieved over the previous four years, of course, but it is unusual. Inflation – less than 10%. Foreign exchange reserves today are the highest in the last five years. If we talk about the macroeconomic situation, it is quite stable today,” said Markarov.

The Minister believes that if the Ukrainian economy will grow at current rates, it will overtake Poland in 50 years, however, Ukraine could make faster. “This, of course, for us too long. And we definitely plan to have recipes like to do to catch up,” said the head MinFin.

We will remind, earlier the President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine lost 16% of GDP for Russia. The head of state blames the economic crisis in the country’s economic blockade of the Russian Federation.

The NBU predict a reduction in the growth of Ukraine’s economy in the next two years to 2.5% and 2.9%, from 3.4% last year.
