Energoatom has no plans to change the volumes of supply in 2016

Ukraine in 2016 plans to extend the contract with Russia for uranium enrichment. This was announced by the Director of the division of NAEK Energoatom “Ateroektomii” Alexander Rybchuk on the forum “ATOMEXPO 2016”.

“This year it is also planned to extend the contract, the parties have now completed the procedure for its signing, we also plan in 2016 that will be the supply from the IUEC (international center for uranium enrichment – ed)”, – he said.

Rybchuk, explained that the Ukrainian side is not planning to change the volumes of supply in 2016. The parties have not discussed the adjustment of contract on the horizon after 2017.

Ukraine sends its uranium to Russia for enrichment and subsequent fabrication of nuclear fuel for its nuclear power stations. The annual supply volume is 60 thousand SWU.

As reported the Correspondent.net, in April 2015, the Ukrainian Energoatom and France’s AREVA in Brussels signed a contract for the supply of enriched uranium.

Earlier Energoatom and Westinghouse Electric Company signed an agreement to increase the supply of nuclear fuel from the United States for nuclear power plants of Ukraine till 2020.
