The organization believes that the tradition of performing Cossack songs is under threat.

Cossack songs of the Dnipropetrovsk region included into the list of elements of intangible cultural heritage that need immediate protection, according to the organization’s website.

“Cossack songs are sung in Dnipropetrovsk region, in the Cossack communities and the story of the tragedies of war and personal experiences of soldiers-Cossacks, – stated in the message. Songs serve to maintain spiritual ties with the past, but could also be entertaining. There are three groups of singers: Krynica Boguslavska and primrose, they are attended by both men and women.”

UNESCO noted that the tradition of performing Cossack songs supported in families, but its survival is under threat due to the age of the performers and the lack of mentors for the training of new generations.
