Russia extended the arrest of Ukrainian sailors

Detainees in the Kerch Strait military will remain in custody until 24-26 July. The sailors are under arrest since November last year.

The Lefortovo district court of Moscow on Wednesday, April 17, extended the arrest of 24 Ukrainian sailors, detained in the Kerch Strait, reports Hromadske.

It is noted that the three wounded sailors – Andrew Artemenko, Andrei Adera and Basil Magpie, ‘ has left in custody until 26 July.

All other sailors the arrest was extended until July 24.

According to the lawyer Nikolay Polozov, the case of Ukrainian sailors brought together all of the documents that indicate that they are prisoners of war.

We will remind, on November 25, the Russian special forces had seized two Ukrainian boats of Berdyansk and Dnipropetrovsk and tug Jana’s tray on the way to the Kerch Strait. 24 Ukrainian sailors were arrested on charges of “illegal crossing of border of the Russian Federation”, three of them were injured.

On the eve of Ukraine appealed to the international Tribunal for the law of the sea with a request to introduce measures against Russia, demanding the release of captured ships and sailors.
