Ukrainians were less likely to give asylum in Poland

Украинцам стали реже давать убежище в Польше

Last year the number of Ukrainians granted refugee status in Poland has decreased threefold.

Last year 4100 aliens filed a petition for granting international protection in Poland. This was stated press Secretary of Management on Affairs of foreigners Jakub Dudziak, writes the Polish radio on Wednesday, January 23.

“Last year continued reduction in the number of foreigners who asked for international protection in Poland (about a thousand fewer applications than in 2017 – ed.)”, – he said.

According to him, only 406 aliens were all the necessary conditions for asylum. “A negative decision was taken by 2.1 thousand persons and 1.9 thousand cases have been stopped,” said Dudziak.

Most of the applicants for international protection last year, filed by citizens of Russia (2.7 thousand employees), Ukraine (466 people) and Tajikistan (144 people).

Most positive decisions were received by the citizens of Ukraine (95 people), Russia (79 persons) and Iraq (27).

212 persons were the so-called national protection in the form of tolerated stay or for humanitarian reasons.

Thus, the number of Ukrainians granted refugee status in Poland has decreased threefold. In 2017 have received such a status 276 Ukrainian citizens.

It should be noted that according to various estimates only in Poland are two to three million Ukrainians.
