At Ukrnafta want to limit the presence of imported petroleum products on the Ukrainian market.

The company said that the dominance of imported oil, especially from Russia and Belarus gives the possibility to develop Ukrainian trade.

Ukrtatnafta initiates an investigation into the growth of volume of imported petroleum products in Ukraine. With the corresponding statement the company applied to the Ministry of economic development and trade of Ukraine (MEDT). On Thursday, March 22, the press service of the company.

“The dependence of the domestic market of oil products produced in Russia and Belarus in recent years is 60-80%. But in General, the rapid growth of imports over the past 12 years has led to a complete shutdown of the majority of Ukrainian oil refineries,” – noted in Ukrnafta.

The company also said that without government support, domestic enterprises are unable to fulfill the strategic objectives and eliminate the dependence on energy supplies from Russia.

In this regard, Ukrtatnafta offers a step by step to introduce quotas and to gradually increase the share of petroleum products from one country (from one source) to 30%.

“Such conditions are provided and European practice in the sphere of energy security,” according to the company.

“Ukrtatnafta” asks to accept the application for consideration by the Interdepartmental Commission on international trade, to violate and to conduct a special investigation concerning increased imports of petroleum products in Ukraine. During the investigation, the company urges to be guided by the priorities of energy sovereignty, state security and the main items of the Energy strategy of Ukraine”, – summed up in the company.

Earlier, the SBU discovered the theft of raw materials from the pipeline Ukrnafta.

Recall that in Ukraine has extended the embargo on Russian goods.
