By 2035, Ukraine plans to increase gas extraction to covering own needs and export. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Kistion, presenting the strategy at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv on Wednesday, Interfax-Ukraine.

“In the future, to 2035 the aim is to increase domestic natural gas production to 35 billion cubic meters while reducing its consumption up to 30 billion cubic meters, which will create opportunities for annual export of 5 billion cubic meters”, – he said.

According to the Vice-Prime Minister, Ukraine in the medium term, also expects to carry out the transit of natural gas through its transmission system in the amount of 150 billion cubic meters annually

“The load of the Ukrainian GTS to ensure the needs of consumers in the European Union up to 150 billion cubic meters per year. Maybe someone and this figure is strange, but I want to note that until 2050 the demand for natural gas in Europe is consistently high,” he said.

According to him, the point of reception of the Russian gas for transit should be located on the Eastern border of Ukraine.

Question also reported that the energy intensity of the Ukrainian economy should be reduced by half by 2035, and the loading of the underground storage facilities will increase in comparison with the current.

Recall that Ukraine buys from Russia contracted gas for more than 700 days.
