German-Chinese venture FAW-Volkswagen announced the plans to launch the second phase of the “mega-plant” in Chinese Foshan (Guangdong province), production capacity which currently amounts to 300 thousand cars a year. The launch of the second phase will double the production of cars. As reported by Electrek, the new capacity will be used for the development of electric cars and crossovers.

It is also reported that the company intended to use in the production of electric vehicles modular architecture MEB (Modular Baukasten Electric) designed specifically for electric vehicles. It will be built all electric Volkswagen next generation.

Previously, Volkswagen has announced plans to manufacture 100 thousand all-electric cars in China in the capacity of the new joint venture with Chinese state-owned company JAC Motors.
