The special representative of the US state Department in Ukraine Kurt Volker questioned the progress on the Donbass to the Ukrainian elections in 2019.

In an interview with The Guardian, Walker noted that skeptical to a future meeting with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov. The parties may wish to hold several rounds of talks to determine the feasibility of such a summit.

“There were some signs that Russia is probably not going to do anything before the elections,” said Walker.

He also commented on the softer rhetoric of US President Donald trump, who said earlier that Crimea has always been Russian.

“What the President does, like trying to find a channel of dialogue with Putin, to have the means to solve problems. I think it’s really important,” said Walker.

Earlier, Volcker said that the U.S. is ready to increase deliveries of weapons to Ukraine.

Last week Russia announced the preparation of the next meeting Surkov and Walker.
