Волкер рассказал о горячей стадии войны в Донбассе

The parties to the conflict are “stuck” in the Minsk process, some items of which cannot be implemented without UN peacekeepers, the diplomat said.

Special envoy of the US state Department in Ukraine Kurt Volker described the current stage of the conflict in the Donbas as a “hot war”. He stated this on the forum “Yalta European strategy” in Kiev, according to Gordon.

“The Donbas is the hot stage of the war, it has a huge impact on the local population,” said Walker.

He also noted that the parties are “stuck” in the Minsk process. As explained by Walker, some points of the Minsk agreements, such as the holding of local elections, it is impossible to implement without security. In this regard, it was proposed to introduce UN peacekeepers.

In mid-August, Walker said that Russia delays the armed conflict in the Donbass. He has published satellite images, which, according to him, the visible evidence of Russia’s support of the “republics” of Donbass.

Volker said that Russia is blocking the work of the monitoring missions on the internationally recognized border of Ukraine.

In September the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov warned against the implementation of the power scenario in the Donbass. According to him, “it will be a disaster for the Ukrainian people.”

Russia denies military involvement in Eastern Ukraine and accuses Kiev of failure of the Minsk agreements. The first persons of the Russian state, including President Vladimir Putin, have repeatedly said that Ukrainians and Russians are brotherly peoples “shared a past and a future”.
