Died, the former Primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church cardinal Lubomyr (Husar), reports Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources in the UGCC and several other media outlets.
“The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church 2005-2011 years, his Beatitude Lubomyr Husar died on 85-m to year of life”, - is told in the message.
Lubomyr Husar was part of the one hundred most influential people of Ukraine.
Major Archbishop Emeritus Lubomyr (in the world Lubomyr Husar, rod. 26 Feb 1933) - Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, cardinal of the Catholic Church; on 28 January 2001, major Archbishop of Lviv.
From 25 August 2005 to 10 February 2011, the Supreme Archbishop of Kyiv and Halych of the UGCC Patriarch (left the post after Pope Benedict XVI accepted his resignation for health reasons).
