LAZ had to put the bus in Cairo for 89 million dollars

Cairo annulled the tender for the purchase of Manhole 289 buses.

Egypt will announce a repeated tender for purchase of buses in connection with the cancellation of the previous, which in 2015 won City Transport Group (CTG management company, LLC “Lviv bus plants”). This was reported by General Director of CTG Igor Churkin, the press service of the company.

“In 2015, STG has won a tender to supply 289 buses to Cairo to 89 million dollars. But due to the economic situation in Ukraine, the inability of government agencies to provide the necessary state guarantees, as well as in connection with the adoption of the law on the obligatory sale of incoming prepaid currency, Egypt canceled the tender, and resumed it on other terms of payment”, – he said.

According to Churkin, the tender continues to provide for the extension of contract in which the winner will be able to supply Egypt with up to 2 thousand buses at $ 460 million.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian government “has a good chance to secure the inflow of currency into the economy of Ukraine, if Ukraine will provide real support to domestic producers with the provision of the resulting contract hard currency credit lines”.

In addition, the General Director of CTG added that it is necessary to provide financial guarantees in local currency, and optimize the export laws.
