Media: EU urged to agree on Nord stream-2

The European Commission plans to ask permission from the EU to start negotiations with Russia on the construction of the pipeline.

The European Union has offered to negotiate with Russia on behalf of member countries on gas pipeline Nord stream-2, which involves the construction off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany, reports Reuters with reference to the Danish newspaper Politiken.

In a Politiken was a document in which the European Commission invites the member States of the EU to Express point of view about the construction of the pipeline and said that the project could not be started in a “legal vacuum”.

The representative of the European Commission Anna-Kaisa Itkonen told the newspaper that the EC will ask the EU for permission to launch negotiations with Russia to agree on the pipeline.

Earlier it was reported that Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Estonia and Lithuania opposed the construction of the Nord stream-2, motivated geopolitical threat.
