Tennis: Novak Djokovic elected President of the players Council of the ATP

The first racket of the world Novak Djokovic was elected head of the renewed Board of players of the Association of tennis professionals (ATP), the official website of the Asia-Pacific region.

At the end of June for a two-year period in the players Council of the ATP was chosen as Kevin Anderson, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, Gilles Simon, yen-Hsun Lu, Rajeev RAM, Bruno Soares, Marcelo Melo, Colin Dowdeswell, Claudio Pistolesi and Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky.

At the first meeting in new York, August 29, the players Council of the ATP defined the top – President of the organization was Novak Djokovic, and the functions of the Vice-President went to South African Kevin Anderson. Earlier similar posts in the Council took Eric Butorac and Gilles Simon respectively.

“As a man having at the moment a certain influence, I will try to direct it to improve our sport. Roger Federer’s been doing this for a long time, and Rafael Nadal was also a member of the Board. I think it is right that the strongest players in the world are attracted to control,” said Djokovic.

Note, the Serb will occupy this position at least until June 2018.

As previously reported, the U.S. open tennis US Open 2016 will be held in new York from 29 August to 11 September. The tournament is the fourth and latest in the season the stage of the Grand slam and will be held in 136 times. At the upcoming championship, Djokovic will play in the first round with a pole Jerzy janowicz.
