The number of tourists to Ukraine increased

Most tourists were from Moldova - they accounted for almost 33 percent of the total.

In 2016 the number of foreign tourists to Ukraine increased by 5.6% compared to 2015 year – on-year to 13.6 million people.

This was reported in the Ministry of economic development and trade.

Most tourists were from Moldova - they accounted for 32.9 percent of the total number or 4,474 million.

In addition, the citizens of Belarus took a share of 13.4 percent (1,828 million people), Russians – 11.3 per cent (1,543 million), Hungary – 9.3% (1,271 million), poles, and 8.8 percent (1,195 million).

The number of Russian tourists in comparison with the previous year, increased by 16.8%, to 221 thousand people.

Most number of tourists in Ukraine in 2016 has grown from Tajikistan – three times in comparison with the year 2015 to 165,158 thousand people.

It is also noted that most tourists (95.3 per cent) of tourists travel motivation have “personal goals”; 2 percent “transit”, 1.3 percent – “tourism”, 1.1% “other purposes,” 0.2% “official purposes”.

Meanwhile, last week Ukraine dropped in the ranking of tourism.

And last year, the journal Reporter wrote that Ukraine has become a country of sex tourism.
