Poroshenko met with the ambassadors of the countries “Big seven” and the EU
The President held a meeting with ambassadors of the G7 and the European Union.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko urged the international community not to recognize the elections in the state Duma of the Russian Federation, which Moscow intends to hold the Crimea.
“Petro Poroshenko emphasized the importance of maintaining non-recognition policy of the illegal annexation of the Crimea, where catastrophically deteriorating situation with human rights, including the punitive medicine of the Soviet sample”, - the President said at a meeting with ambassadors of the G7 countries and the European Union, reports his press-service.
The President also urged not to recognize the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections of the Russian Federation, which Moscow is trying to hold in the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol – the Ukrainian territory that is in temporary occupation,” - said Poroshenko.
The President also said that Ukraine remains a strong supporter of a political and diplomatic settlement of the situation in the Donbass. Poroshenko noted that at the current stage, major efforts should be aimed at enforcing the Russian side security part of the Minsk agreements.
“Sanctions pressure on Moscow has demonstrated its effectiveness and should be maintained until the full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state”, - said P. Poroshenko.
Separately, the parties discussed the issue of early release of hostages and political prisoners illegally held in Russia and in the occupied territories.
During the meeting with Poroshenko was attended by the canadian Ambassador Roman Vashchuk, the Ambassador of Japan Shigeki Sumi, Ambassador of France Isabelle Dumont, the British Ambassador Judith Hof, U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, the Ambassador of Germany, Ernst Reichel, Ambassador of Italy, Davide La Cecilia and head of the EU delegation Hugues Mingarelli.
